Murder-Suicide: 'Soulmate' Husband Kills Author Wife In PA

A self-described "lifestyle influencer" and author died in an apparent murder-suicide in Central Pennsylvania, authorities told Daily Voice on July 31, 2023.

Jeffrey "Jeff" Scott Wenrich, 63, and his wife, Tharifah "Tharifa" Wenrich, 64, were found shot to death at their home in the 100 block of Scottsdale Drive by a family member around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Mifflinburg Police told Daily Voice. 

Jeff is believed to have shot Tharia and then turned the gun on himself sometime between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on July 30.

The couple lived together at the home, no one else was involved, "there was no evidence of foul play" and there is no danger to the public, police said.

No motive has been released. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Mifflinburg police.

The Union County coroner, Evangelical Regional Mobile Medical Service, Pennsylvania State Police, and a state police forensic services unit responded to the scene.

Tharifa along ran a blog and social media group called "Be A Better You" which focused on aging gracefully.

The couple had been married for 13 years and celebrated their 12th anniversary in Hawaii, according to Tharifa's social media. 

One of Tharifa's last social media posts with her husband Jeff was on his 63rd birthday. She described him as follows:

"Jeff is more than a husband , he’s my best friend , soulmate and a beautiful soul ❤️He’s always humble , gracious , very easy going, always makes me laugh and giving unconditional love ! He’s my cheerleader and great anchor when I’m off course 🤣I love you ‘Habibi’ for being in my life ❤️😘"

Tharifa was one of the authors of "20 Lives Ignited: How 20 Women Over 60 are Creating Success on Their Own Terms" which is still available for purchase at Barnes and Nobles

She recently gave a presentation for the Union County Library System and was scheduled to give another on Aug. 3, according to the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau. 

Jeff was a member of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Parish, according to a parish newsletter.

Funeral and memorial service details were not released at the time of publication.
